It is not wasted on me how faithful God is in giving perspective. I have spent the last year searching for who I am and what my role is now that the world has shifted. Sweet Jesus had a plan. I needed to wander a bit because I had so much self-discovery during this time. I grew through the wondering. I grieved some decisions made, mourned some lives not lived, made peace with some choices. I now revel in the beautiful life he has given me.
Just when we get so focused on SELF and what WE need, God gives us the opportunity to grow and remember that we are just a little piece of His puzzle. When He does that, it always encourages me to look at what I DO have and to be grateful.
- I have a God who picked ME to exist.
- I have a wonderful, lovely, quirky, imperfect hot-mess family whom I love dearly
- I have a beautiful (messy, but filled with love) home
- I have had a career that didn’t exactly follow the path I anticipated, but it allowed me to do what I always dreamed of. I got to make a difference.
- I have a community that isn’t perfect, but its flaws make it unique. It is a community that has loved on us, lifted us in prayer, supported us, shared its children with us, and continues to be HOME.
- I have friends who are “forever friends.” They will pray for us. They will talk truth to me. They will hold me accountable.
Matt and I are so blessed, and my walk-about time has been so good. I am learning who Anna Jo is a little bit out of the context of “Matt and Anna Jo,” so I can more fully be who God has created me to be.
There are days that waves of emotion spray over you. Today I am bathing in that day. The gratitude is so rich and powerful today. I cannot begin to imagine how life could be any sweeter. There are mountains we will climb, but Matt and I will climb them together and bask at His glory from every point along the way. No but. No need for any explanation. Just feeling incredibly grateful today.
